Ian Brown in his final letter to the voters of Salthill on eve of poll commented ;
I’m proud to stand as a Conservative in this by-election and I believe that, as part of a strong Conservative led Council, I can work to make our town an even better place in which to live. Clitheroe has been my home for the last 40 years and as a local resident, I understand and care about those issues you’ve told me are important to you and your family. If elected as your Councillor I will:
• Press for local investment in the centre of Clitheroe, so important at a time of economic uncertainty.
• Fight to improve the availability of affordable housing for our young people who want to continue to live where they were born and brought up.
• Tackle the local issues you have identified.
• Stand up for all residents in the Salthill ward, regardless of any party political allegiance.
This by-election is your opportunity to elect a strong Councillor who will always put Clitheroe first and be a prominent voice on the issues that matter to you. Having been a Town and Borough Councillor I believe I have the experience and commitment and the political backing to make a difference; it would be an honour to represent you on both Councils.
