Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, today hailed Ofcom’s announcement that it wants to cut mobile termination charges – the charges national network operators make to connect calls to other mobile networks - from 4.3p to 0.5p. Mr Evans said, “We started this campaign last year and when I tabled an Earl Day Motion calling for mobile termination rates to be cut it received a huge amount of support from fellow MPs. I am delighted that Ofcom have also decided that they want to see mobile termination rates cut. It will mean that consumers and businesses alike get a better and fairer deal. “Ofcom have said that the move could equate to a saving for consumers of around £800m in the four years to 2015. It was exactly the right decision for them to take.” |
