Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley, today performed a question and answer session with pupils from Westholme School, Blackburn. Speaking after the event Mr Evans said, “I was very grateful for the opportunity to come and speak to the pupils of Westholme, some of whom live in the Ribble Valley. “It is a great way to engage those young people who will be voting at the next general election and those in the future. I certainly found the session useful because it allowed me an insight into what issues young people care about more than others. People of differing ages have different concerns. That is only natural, but we as politicians are here to represent everybody. “Young people should not be forgotten. Their voice needs to be heard and their opinion given due weight. I am proud to be an Honorary President of the British Youth Council and I always look forward to meeting youngsters in the constituency or when they come to Westminster.” |
