Welcome to Ribble Valley Conservatives

On this website you will find the latest news, campaigns, information about us, what we are doing and what we believe in.  Ribble Valley Conservatives, as always, will be addressing many key local issues. Principally, law and order, protection of the Green Belt and the local environment, safeguarding and sustaining rural communities and supporting the local industrial base.

We are also here to deal with the concerns of the constituents and the issues that they have on a daily basis. We try to deal with them to resolve them as quickly as possible. This might be anything from nuisance teenagers causing trouble in the neighbourhood to cracked pavements that need bringing to the attention of the council.

Conservatives in the Ribble Valley constituency  represent residents in the European parliament , Westminster Parliament, Lancashire County Council ,South Ribble Borough Council and Ribble Valley Borough Council . They can all be contacted through this web site or through our office and are  at your service.

The consituency organisation is based in branches all over the area each, with representatives on the executive .The officers in the management team direct the organisation.  Anyone is welcome to become  a member and join a  branch, become a councillor or county councillor. They can join in the party's campaigns  by canvassing - either by telephone or visiting - or by delivering some leaflets or they can just be part of the social aspect of that particular branch.

Everyone is a volunteer and we always hope people are able donate a small amount of their time this will enable us to serve the public and make the lives of the community we represent better and more  fulfilling.

Our MP  Nigel Evans is the Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons and holds  regular surgeries and will provide advice and take up your problems.

Eric Pickles Communities Minister  singles out Ribble Valley Borough Council for praise

Nigel Evans, Member of Parliament for the Ribble Valley and Deputy Speaker of the House of Commons, was delighted on Wednesday evening when the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, the Rt Hon Eric Pickles MP, praised Ribble Valley Borough Council.

Speaking about Local Government Finance, Mr Pickles said,

“The phasing of the settlement will be challenging. Councils can choose how they respond. Some have chosen to wring their hands and say that it is all too hard, or to play politics with front-line services. Others have chosen to step up and to protect vital local services, reducing every trace of waste, protecting the most vulnerable and reforming services to deliver better results for less.

“Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea and Westminster councils are merging their back offices to save £35 million. West Norfolk is freezing council tax and car park charges, as well as councillors' allowances. Reading borough council has decided not to cut but to increase funding for voluntary groups. We have heard today that Ribble Valley borough council has also decided to protect voluntary groups and not to cut front-line services.”

Mr Evans said, “I am delighted that Ribble Valley Borough Council is leading the way, making tough decisions but maintaining front line services.

“It is a testament to the Councillors and Officers that they have been praised in this way and I am sure that they will continue to work closely with the Secretary of State to ensure that the people of the Ribble Valley are well provided for.”
